Scholarship beneficiaries receive cheques

Enthusiasm and delight filled the faces of the 10 children and their parents who were recently awarded scholarships by Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF), as they received their first cheques in fulfilment of the promise made by the Chairman of the Foundation, Engr. Phillip Yaro. The handover of the cheques brought joy and fulfilment to the staff and volunteers who were seeing their efforts at transforming society and bringing hope to many come to fruition. The funds the parents received would help with the student’s notebook, uniform, for the upkeep of the students.

Mr. Ayodele Adeyemi who represented the Tutor-General of District 1 opened the scholarship award meeting with the district Anthem. He also introduced the councilors he came with.

Mrs. Helen Egbe, ED of CEF while welcoming everyone to the meeting, talked about the Cakasa Nigeria Company and its corporate social responsibility arm, the Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation. She introduced the Cakasa Ebenezer foundation team in the persons of Miss Catherine Ojonugwa Shaibu, Mr. Olawuyiwa Taiwo and their consultant, Mr. Emmanuel Ochai. She also thanked Ornaments of Grace and Virtue (OGAV) for providing the platform to partner with them during the scholarship camp. She also thanked Mrs. Pelemo who was the camp commandant during the summer leadership camp.

Mrs. Egbe talked about the scholarship which was awarded during the summer leadership camp 2019 by Engr. Philip Yaro, explaining the guidelines for the scholarship award. She explained that the role of District 1 was to support the students in ensuring that they excelled in their academic performance to meet their yearly criteria and remaining active as beneficiaries under the scholarship scheme. The role of OGAV was to monitor the students’ performance in their Academic through counseling, she further explained.

She said the scholarship had two tiers. The first tier being for secondary school, while the second tier would be for the university level. 70% of the scholarship will be managed by CEF while 30% will be managed by the parents/guardians.

Miss Ranti Yekini of OGAV introduced her team and thanked Cakasa Ebenezer foundation for the collaboration.
