Celebrating Children’s Potential: Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation’s 2024 Children’s Day Event

Children Have the Potential to Achieve Greatness

At the Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF), we firmly believe that every child has the potential to achieve greatness and fulfil their highest dreams. This message was at the heart of our celebration of the 2024 Children’s Day at News City Primary School in Mushin, Lagos.

A Three-Day Celebration of Youth and Dreams

From May 28 to 30, we dedicated three days to honour Children’s Day, a special occasion in Nigeria celebrated on May 27 each year. This day is a reminder for adults to reminisce about their own childhoods and to recognise the importance of nurturing young minds who will shape the future.

Empowering the Future

At the event, Mrs. Helen Egbe, Executive Director of CEF, shared inspiring words with the children and attendees. She emphasized that Children’s Day is not only about fun and festivities but also about committing to the education and well-being of every child.

“Today, as we gather in the vibrant community of Mushin, Lagos, we are reminded of the dreams and aspirations that reside within each of you,” said Mrs. Egbe. “Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation is proud to be part of this celebration, not only to provide entertainment but to share gifts that we hope will bring smiles to your faces and joy to your hearts.”

A Commitment to Education

Mrs. Egbe highlighted the foundation’s dedication to promoting educational empowerment and community development. She stressed that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world, and by investing in children, we are investing in a brighter, more prosperous future for all.

“To the primary schools present here today, I commend your dedication to nurturing these young minds. Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world, and by investing in these children, we are investing in a brighter, more prosperous future for all,” Egbe said.

A Call to Support and Empower

Mrs. Egbe urged everyone to pledge support for every child’s right to quality education, healthcare, and the freedom to dream big. “Whether you dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, a social worker, or an artist, believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up on your dreams,” she encouraged the children.

Community Support and Gratitude

Princess Olufemi Akinlude, Education Secretary of Mushin Local Government Education Authority, also addressed the students, encouraging them to focus on their studies and take advantage of the support from various NGOs.

“They must be ready to face their studies holistically,” she said, expressing gratitude to the Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation for its commitment to the educational pursuits of many children within the Mushin LGEA.

A Joyful Celebration

The event concluded with the cutting of a cake by the Education Secretary, symbolizing the celebration’s climax. The children enjoyed music, dancing, and playing on the bouncing castle. Various gift items were also presented to the children, adding to the day’s joy.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the success of this year’s Children’s Day celebration, we are reminded of our mission at Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation: to support and empower every child to achieve their dreams. We look forward to continuing our efforts to provide educational opportunities and foster the growth of young minds in our communities.
