Honouring the Achievements and Potential of Women
International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8th, is a global event dedicated to recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This day also serves as a call to action to accelerate gender equality and create conditions that favour women’s full and equal participation in all aspects of life.
The 2024 Theme: “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”
The United Nations theme for International Women’s Day 2024, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” underscores the importance of encouraging women to aspire to leadership positions and strive for an inclusive and equal world. This theme resonates deeply with our mission at Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF), where we are committed to promoting and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on gender equality.
CEF’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment
In alignment with this year’s theme, CEF held its second edition of the International Women’s Day programme for the female members of Cakasa Nigeria Company Limited (CNC) at our Head Office located at No. 96 Palm Avenue, Mushin, Lagos. The objective of this program was to recognise the contributions and achievements of women within our organisation, who are leading the charge and exploring ways to work together to make the world a better, fairer place for everyone.
A Day of Inspiration and Engagement
A series of inspiring events and interactions marked the day:
- Opening Speech: The Managing Director/CEO of Cakasa Nigeria Company Ltd, Mr. Barnabas Olise, who was represented by the General Manager of Enterprise Support Services, Mr. Mohammed Shaibu, delivered an empowering speech emphasizing the importance of investing in women’s growth and leadership.
- Presentation by CEF: Mrs. Helen Egbe, Executive Director of CEF, presented the critical role of women in driving progress and the steps CEF is taking to support their empowerment.
- Interactive Session: An engaging interactive session followed, featuring the General Manager of Enterprise Support Services, senior management of CNC, CEF, and female members of staff. This session provided a platform for open dialogue, sharing experiences, and discussing strategies to promote gender equality within the organisation and beyond.
Recognising Contributions and Charting the Future

By celebrating the achievements of our female staff and fostering an environment that encourages their growth and leadership, we are taking significant steps towards a fairer and more inclusive society.
