Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation’s Heartfelt Outreach: Supporting the Less Privileged in Lagos and Port Harcourt

Embracing Corporate Social Responsibility

In alignment with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments, the Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF), in partnership with its parent company Cakasa Nigeria Company (CNC), conducted a meaningful outreach on Friday, 12th December 2023, and Wednesday, 20th December 2023. These visits to specific care facilities in Lagos and Port Harcourt were not only acts of charity but also expressions of gratitude for the blessings we have received at Cakasa Nigeria Company (CNC).

Extending a Helping Hand to Care Facilities

Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children, Lagos

On 12th December, our team visited Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Surulere, Lagos. Understanding the unique needs of the children, we provided a range of essentials, including:

  • Food Items: Rice, Beans, Garri, Cereal, Indomie, Spaghetti, Milo, Milk
  • Toiletries and Cleaning Supplies: Toiletries, Detergents
  • Educational Materials: Braille Papers, Slate, and Stylus

Port Harcourt Maximum Prison

On 20th December, we extended our support to the Port Harcourt Maximum Prison, addressing some of their most pressing needs. We provided:

  • Medical Supplies
  • Bed Foams
  • Food Items

Alleviating Hardship with the 2023 Christmas Food Basket Programme

The 2023 Christmas Food Basket programme was another key initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable households during the festive season. This programme targeted 80 households, particularly those struggling with the rising cost of living and financial constraints exacerbated throughout the year, especially affecting those reliant on daily incomes.

Distribution of Essential Food Items

Under this programme, we distributed a total of 80 bags of essential food items, which included:

  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Garri
  • Spaghetti
  • Groundnut Oil
  • Maggi
  • Salt
  • Sachet Tomatoes

The distribution took place in stages from 12th to 15th December 2023, ensuring that each identified household received the necessary support to alleviate their immediate food needs.

Addressing Hunger and Supporting Growth

Our efforts are in harmony with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger
  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being
  • Goal 4: Quality Education
  • Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

It is essential to highlight the alarming trend noted in global reports such as the 2020 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI), which reported nearly 690 million people suffering from hunger in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened this situation, potentially driving an additional 83 million to 132 million people into chronic hunger in 2020. This challenge poses a significant obstacle to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2, which aims to eradicate hunger.

Our Commitment to Making a Difference

At Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting and empowering communities. By addressing the immediate needs of the less privileged and fostering conditions for sustainable growth, we aim to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development discourse.
